Charcoal given in the snow.

There are feelings that words can't express, times when a simple smile can give you everything, a simple gesture that can make you swell and hit you how human this world is now. For me, this was just alright.

I made a promise to myself, after finding an old friend that I would seriously considered dating if i weren't attached - i'm bloody old fashioned. Thing is, we always meet up when my other half is coincidentally not in town. Times were good when we were together. We made each other laugh, talked about anything under the sun and things that you only tell your best pal. Well, we were sort of close, I guess.
Before my old friend's birthday, we sorta made a deal on doing something, and that was the present I wanted to give. You see, whenever we pass by the main road to my place which is sorta old town compared to where my old friend's staying, we'll always pass by a certain bus stop where there's a big bump. In the bus stop there's this old man who was just sleeping there in the cold. Doesn't these things always bug you? Like where's his family? Why doesn't anyone help him? What can we do? We talked about it and came up to an old blanket one of us had, should be given to him. I felt it was not enough and wanted something more.
Times passed and it was my pal's birthday. We met up but can't do much due to the exams that my pal was preparing for. I prepared a whole day to celebrate where it would end up us giving our big guy at the bus stop some love. It didn't happened. 2 reasons why: my pal's exams, and an acceptance of another half.
This disappointed me but who was i kidding? I shouldn't be doing this anyway. It'll crush my beau. Yet I am still doing it. Anyway, I changed an approach to the situation and accepted that we can be exclusive friends, but only friends. Weeks later we planned to meet up since my birthday was coming and my pal had a present for me too. I didn't wanna let my beau know about us so I postponed. Rain stopped us from meeting at all since it rained for a whole 2 days, main roads were flooded, traffic everywhere in stand still, and people drenched outside or warm inside. I was the one stuck in traffic; my pal was the one warm inside with 'the other half' . I was pissed since we set the date like about weeks ago, and I still haven't received my present after about a month.
What I did not regret was taking ten minutes of our time in the middle of preparing exams and meeting 'the other half'' later into doing what we wanted to do for a long time. I drived my dad's car to pick me old friend up. Then we went over to the bus stop, waked the big, poor guy up, passed to him a sweater we bought, the old blanket, and I handed another 20 bucks (hope he recognizes money and don't burn it for 'more warmth') for his keeping. He wasn't very receptive and just nodded, but it meant alot to us; it meant alot to me for us, something I would remember, and I can tell my kid, what I did, purposely going later at night to avoid glances from strangers or people who knew me in my streets, I loved to tell him all of this.
This, made my day. Problems can pile up like crap, relationships can have a rapid change, but giving to those who need help, that's all worth it. Hope this makes your day after reading it.
